cpif = Computer Programming Is Fun!

Instructions for the cpif software package that comes with the book
Computer Programming is Fun! by David Handy (c) 2003-2009

WHAT TO DO AFTER YOU'VE INSTALLED THE SOFTWARE
==============================================

When the window titled "CPIF Welcome" came up, and you pressed the Ok
button, the sample programs were copied to the MyPrograms directory
in your "My Documents" folder. These sample programs go with the book.

Setting up each student with his/her own MyPrograms directory
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are running Windows 2000 or XP, then each student can log in and run
the "CPIF Welcome" program to get a personal MyPrograms directory inside his
or her own "My Documents" folder.
Have each student run the "CPIF Welcome" program by clicking the Start
button and selecting "All Programs", then "CPIF", then "CPIF Welcome".
Starting Python
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Students will type commands in the Python Shell window. To start the Python
Shell window, run a program called "IDLE". Click the Start button and
select "All Programs", then "CPIF Python", then "CPIF Python (IDLE)". A
window will appear with the title "Python Shell".

Read the Book
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is the Python Shell window for? That's what the "Getting Started"
lesson in the book "Computer Programming Is Fun!" explains.  The book goes
on to teach computer programming in a step-by-step manner, starting at the
very beginning level.
Enjoy the software, and buy the book if you haven't done so already!
